Deriv has partnered with Fondazzjoni Sebħ, a Maltese charity dedicated to uplifting female survivors of violence and their families in Ħamrun and Marsa. Through this partnership, we are transforming lives through essential services such as residential care, family support, and aftercare programmes. Together, Deriv and Fondazzjoni Sebħ are helping survivors regain control of their lives, helping survivors rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Raising awareness to drive change for women survivors

On 1 April, our team took to the streets of Ħamrun, armed with leaflets, displays, and passion. We connected with locals, sharing Fondazzjoni Sebħ’s mission and inviting them to a charity bazaar. This outreach ensured that the local community understood the range of services available to those affected by violence and the importance of supporting survivors in their journey towards recovery. 

Bringing momentum at the charity bazaar

The bazaar kicked off on 4 April, with our volunteers engaging passers-by and highlighting the charity’s vision. By securing support from local businesses and the Parish Church, we kept the energy high, sharing stories and answering questions to drive home the importance of supporting survivors. To expand its scope further, Deriv amplified the event’s reach through strategic use of social media and internal campaigns, ensuring the message of solidarity and support for women survivors resonated far beyond the bazaar.

Transforming spaces, uplifting women, making a tangible impact

On 3 May, we rolled up our sleeves to clear a debris-filled hall for Fondazzjoni Sebħ’s future initiatives. The area was cleared and renovated to provide a welcoming space where women survivors can access essential resources and initiatives tailored specifically to their needs. Covering all costs and fueled by teamwork, we turned the space into a hub for hope. This hands-on effort underscored our commitment to supporting women survivors.

Reclaiming green spaces with care for the community

On 31 May, our team returned to Fondazzjoni Sebħ for a hands-on morning of garden clean-up and vehicle care. While a professional gardener trimmed overgrown grass, Deriv volunteers got to work removing fallen leaves, watering plants, and cleaning the vehicles used by home carers. These vehicles play a vital role in supporting women and children in crisis, and by giving them a thorough refresh, we helped ensure safe, dignified transport. Every effort—from clearing paths to restoring greenery—contributed to making the grounds feel more welcoming and cared for.

Supporting day-to-day care with power tool donations

In early June, we donated a set of battery-powered tools to support Fondazzjoni Sebħ’s ongoing maintenance efforts. This included a high-pressure cleaner, an electric mixer, a spanner set, and a full toolkit. With this donation, the organisation can more easily carry out day-to-day repairs and minor renovations across its four residential homes and facilities. By responding to urgent needs with practical support, we’re helping strengthen the foundation that women and children rely on as they rebuild their lives.

Supporting women through enduring partnerships

From street outreach to community events and practical projects, Deriv’s collaboration with Fondazzjoni Sebħ is an example of how collaboration can promote women empowerment and bring lasting benefits to communities. By focusing on uplifting women and empowering survivors, this initiative delivers a message of hope, healing, and progress.
