AI innovations and key announcements

Amazon Nova

The event showcased the latest advancements in AI, with a major highlight being Amazon Nova, a family of foundational models designed for tasks ranging from cost-effective, low-latency operations to complex multimodal applications like text, image, and video generation. The Nova series, from Nova Micro to Nova Premiere, caters to businesses of all sizes, delivering top-tier performance.

Amazon Bedrock Marketplace

Another exciting release was the Amazon Bedrock Marketplace, featuring over 100 specialised foundational models. This marketplace enables businesses to explore and deploy AI solutions tailored to their needs. “Whether embedding audio or generating multimodal content, Bedrock democratises access to cutting-edge AI,” noted one speaker.

Prompt optimisation

AWS also emphasised prompt optimisation, a feature refining AI model prompts for improved accuracy and efficiency. “You provide your prompt, and this tool revises it using best practices for the specific model, saving time and enhancing results.”

AWS App Studio

The launch of AWS App Studio was another key announcement. “This low-code/no-code service, now available on free trial, lets users build applications without coding,” noted a presenter. With the addition of generative AI assistance, this tool aligns with Deriv’s shift towards low-code development, sparking particular interest among attendees.

Clean Rooms

A key theme of the event was fostering collaboration and community. Deriv’s headquarters buzzed with interactive breakout sessions, workshops, and panel discussions on topics like generative AI, big data processing, and analytics. One of the announcements was clean rooms, a secure space for companies to share large datasets for machine learning while maintaining strict privacy controls. As noted, “Clean rooms now support custom modeling and connectors with Athena and Snowflake, making it easier for businesses to collaborate safely.”

Prompt routing and caching

Workshops explored practical applications of AI, such as prompt routing and caching, which optimise workflows and reduce costs. Employees were encouraged to experiment with these tools, promoting a hands-on learning environment. “These updates ensure developers can focus on creativity and problem-solving rather than operational hurdles,” said an AWS expert.
