How Deriv lead sustainable change in communities in 2024

Celebrating 25 years of innovation, Deriv has expanded its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to address global challenges such as climate change, social inequity, and poverty. Building on the strong foundation established in 2023 with the launch of ‘Deriv Life,’ a program designed to enhance its CSR efforts, Deriv significantly accelerated its initiatives in 2024. This momentum led to 18 impactful projects across its global offices, all embodying the company’s vision for creating meaningful change. These initiatives are centred around three core pillars: supporting communities, empowering women, and protecting the planet.

Pioneering a future of sustainability and inclusivity through strategic CSR initiatives

“In 2024, we took a more structured and ambitious approach to CSR, ensuring our initiatives reached further and created lasting impact,” said Seema Hallon, Chief Human Resources Officer. “By focusing on community, women, and the environment, we’re shaping a future defined by sustainability, inclusivity, and resilience. We’re excited to build on this momentum in 2025 and beyond.”

Transformative partnerships and initiatives: Building resilient communities and a sustainable future

Among our community efforts, we partnered with TECHO in Paraguay to build 10 homes for families in extreme poverty, collaborated with Puttinu Cares in Malta to support children with cancer, and improved facilities for special needs students at SK Pantai in Malaysia. These projects reflect a commitment to providing tangible, life-changing support to underserved communities.

Empowering women was a central focus, exemplified by Deriv’s partnership with DuHope in Rwanda. The collaboration offered vocational training and trauma-informed workshops to women transitioning from survival sex work. The #WalkForHope campaign further raised awareness and funds for these programmes, building sustainable futures for women. In Saint Vincent & Grenadines, we support Esther’s Promise, providing a safe space for women battling domestic violence.

Environmental sustainability was equally prioritised, with initiatives such as funding care for Ellie, Malaysia’s youngest elephant amputee, at the Kuala Gandah Elephant Conservation Centre. Deriv funded Ellie’s prosthetics and continued care, while volunteers made multiple visits to contribute to the sanctuary’s operations. Another initiative was in Orang Asli villages in Kuala Gandah, Malaysia, Deriv supported the community by installing solar-lit showers and communal facilities, a sustainable solution for a brighter future. These innovative efforts ensure long-term benefits for the community and stand as a testament to Deriv’s commitment to eco-friendly development.
